Israel Battles on Two Fronts Against Hamas and Hezbollah

Israel battles on two fronts against Hamas and Hezbollah-Aug. 2, 2020

Only days after Israeli forces fired into Lebanon following what Israel says was an attempt by Hezbollah to cross into the Golan Heights, a four-man squad believed to be Hezbollah, attempted to cross into Israeli-occupied Golan from Syria. Israeli forces engaged Hezbollah squad and killed all four. A statement by the Israeli military claims that these four militants were attempting to plant improvised explosive devices and Israeli-occupied territory.

Also on August 2, 2020, in southern Israel, Palestinian Hamas militants based in Gaza fired Rockets into Israel. Israeli Iron Dome defenses intercepted the Hamas rocket and no injuries were reported on the ground in Israel, though a building was damaged by rocket shrapnel following the rocket’s destruction by Iron Dome missiles.. Several hours later Israeli warplanes retaliated against Hamas. A statement by Hamas said that Israeli attacks were centered in Khan Younis and Rafah in Gaza.

Israel, the Golan, and Gaza

One of the disturbing facts about these recent attacks on Israel by Hezbollah and Hamas is the fact that both serve as proxy forces for Iran, with which Israel has engaged in a sometimes hot, sometimes cold, war for years. A recent attack by Israel into Syria killed both Hezbollah and Iranian personnel, which elicited a threat of revenge against Israel. While these recent attacks from both the northern and southern fronts maybe part of this attempt at retaliation, the fact that Israel has suffered no casualties may only add to the frustration of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran.

Below are videos from Twitter that show the infiltrators on camera in Golan.

This video, also from the same source on Twitter, shows the Israeli Iron Dome defense system destroying the Hamas rocket over southern Israel.
