Are We in the Foothills of a Third World War?

Regular readers of this website know that a major focus is the growing threat of major regional and world conflict. Specifically, the authoritarian alliance between China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and their respective allies and proxies.  Russia’s war in Ukraine and the Jihadist campaign against Israel and against global trade in the Red Sea maritime routes (i.e. Houthi missile and drone attacks on ships), are all connected in our view.

Today, writer, Noah Smith, published a Substack article that very clearly explains the current state of the world and how we may be heading toward a new world war.  I agree with his analysis and his conclusions. We, the U.S. and the other Western Democracies face a very real danger. The title of this History Guy post is a phrase that Smith uses, saying that we are possibly now in the “foothills” of a new world war. Read his article for further context.
