Gerry Rafferty (April 16, 1947 –- January 4, 2011) Aged 63--Scottish singer-songwriter (Stealers Wheel) Cause of Death: Liver failure

Ali-Reza Pahlavi (April 28, 1966 –- January 4, 2011) Aged 44--Iranian royal, son of Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. Cause of Death: Suicide by gunshot

Vang Pao (1929 – January 6, 2011) Aged 81--Lao Hmong community leader, Major General of Royal Lao Army, Commander of CIA Hmong Secret Army. Cause of death: Pneumonia.

Donald J. Tyson (April 21, 1930 – January 6, 2011) Aged 80-- American businessman, Chairman of Tyson Foods (1967–2001) Cause of death: Cancer.

Phil Kennemore (d. January 7, 2011) Aged 57--American bass guitarist (the band,Y&T). Cause of death: Lung Cancer.

John Roll (February 8, 1947 – January 8, 2011) Aged 63--American Federal Judge. Cause of Death: Shot in Arizona poltical assassination.

Peter Yates, (July 24, 1929 – January 9, 2011) Aged 81, British film director and producer (Bullitt, Breaking Away, Krull).

Jack LaLanne, (September 26, 1914 - January 23, 2011) Aged 96--Fitness guru Cause of Death: Respiratory failure due to pneumonia.

Maria Schneider (March 27, 1952 –-February 3, 2011) Aged 58-- French actress best known for playing Jeanne, opposite Marlon Brando, in the 1972 motion picture, Last Tango in Paris.

Elizabeth "Liz" Taylor (February 27, 1932-March 23, 2011) Aged 79-- World famous actress and celebrity known for her multiple marriages and her very public battles with addiction and ill health. See also Elizabeth Taylor Images and Pictures

April 2011 Deaths:

William Campbell ( October 30, 1923– April 28, 2011 ) Aged 87, American film and television actor (Love Me Tender, Star Trek, Dementia 13).

May 2011 Deaths:

Osama bin Laden ( March 10, 1957-May 1, 2011 ) Aged 54--Mass Murderer and terrorist leader and founder of Al-Qaeda, planned September 11 attacks. Died when shot by U.S. Navy Seals.

Jackie Cooper (September 15, 1922 – May 3, 2011 ) Aged 88--American actor (Skippy, Our Gang, Superman) and director (M*A*S*H). Died of natural causes.

Harmon Killebrew (June 29, 1936 – May 17, 2011 ) Aged 74--American Hall of Fame baseball player (Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals). Died of esophageal cancer.

Randy "Macho Man" Savage (November 15, 1952 – May 20, 2011 ) Aged 58--American professional wrestler. Died in an automobile accident.

Jeff Conaway (October 5, 1950 – May 27, 2011 ) Aged 60--American actor (Grease, Taxi, Babylon 5). Died of "pneumonia with sepsis."

 

June 2011 Deaths:

Jack Kevorkian (May 26, 1928 – June 3, 2011)--Aged 83--Nicknamed "Dr. Death," American Right-to-Die activist and convicted felon. Died naturally of pulmonary thrombosis.

James Arness (May 26, 1923 – June 3, 2011)--Aged 88--American actor (Gunsmoke). Died of natural causes.

Lawrence Eagleburger (August 1, 1930 – June 4, 2011)- Aged 80--American diplomat and politician who served as Secretary of State (1992–1993) in the George H.W. Bush Administration. Died of pneumonia.

Clarence "Big Man' Clemmons (January 11, 1942 – June 18, 2011)-Aged 69-- Saxophone player best known for his leading role in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Died of complications from a stroke.

 

July 2011 Deaths:

Dick Williams (May 7, 1929 – July 7, 2011)--Aged 82--American baseball player and Hall of Fame manager (Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics, Montreal Expos, San Diego Padres, & Seattle Mariners ). Died of a ruptured aortic aneurysm.

Betty Ford (April 8, 1918 – July 8, 2011)-Aged 93-- Former First Lady and the found of the Betty Ford Center. Died of natural causes.

Sherwood Schwartz (November 14, 1916 – July 12, 2011)-Aged 94-- Television writer and producer, best known for producing Gilligan's Island and the Brady Bunch. Died of natural causes.

Alexander "Alex" Steinweiss (March 24, 1917 – July 17, 2011)--Aged 94-- A graphic designer known for inventing the album cover.

Magnus Malan (January 30, 1930 – July18, 2011) --Aged 81--South African politician and Minister of Defence (1980–1991). Died of natural causes.

John Shalikashvili (June 27, 1936 – July 23, 2011) Aged 75--Polish-born American army general of Georgian descent. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1993–1997). Died of a stroke.

Nguyen Cao Ky (September 8, 1930 –July 23, 2011)--Aged 80--South Vietnamese Air Force General and Prime Minister of South Vietnam (1965–1967).

Amy Winehouse (September 14,1983-July 23, 2011)--Aged 27. Singer and musician.

Hideki Irabu (May 15, 1969 – July 27, 2011)--Aged 42-Japanese baseball player who pitched for the Lotte Orions (1988–1996), New York Yankees (1997–1999), Montreal Expos (2000–2001), Texas Rangers (2002), and Hanshin Tigers (2003). Died of an apparent suicide.

 

August 2011 Deaths:

Bubba Smith (February 28, 1945-August 3, 2011) --Aged 66--American football player (Baltimore Colts) and actor (Police Academy). Died of medication overdose.

Annette Charles--(March 5, 1948-August 3, 2011)--Aged 63, American actress (Cha Cha in the movie Grease). Died of complications of lung cancer.

Mark Hatfield (July 12, 1922 -August 7, 2011)--Aged 89--Former Governor of Oregon (1959–1967) and U.S. Senator from Oregon (1967–1997).

Hugh Carey (April 11, 1919-August 7, 2011Aged 92--Former Governor of New York (1975–1982) and U.S. Representative (1961–1974).

Jani Lane (born John Kennedy Oswald, February 1, 1964-August 11, 2011) --Aged 47--American musician (glam metal band Warrant).

Charles Patrick Murray, Jr. (September 26, 1921 – August 12, 2011)--Aged 89--United States Army officer and recipient of the Medal of Honor for heroic actions in World War II.

Ernie Johnson, Sr. (June 16, 1924 – August 12, 2011)--Aged 87-- American baseball player Boston Braves (1950, 1952), Milwaukee Braves (1953-1958), and Baltimore Orioles (1959) and served as a baseball broadcaster for the Atlanta Braves (1962-1999)
