So Many Comics, So Little Time-Why I Love Sci-Fi and Superheroes

So Many Comics, So Little Time-Why I Love Sci-Fi and Superheroes:  As a lover of comic books, science fiction, in both written form (comics, books, articles, and more) and across film, television, and other media, it should come as no surprise that I am also a fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, and the Marvel and DC superhero universes. These fantastical franchises represent the pinnacle of imaginative storytelling, each offering its own unique lens on heroism, morality, technology, and the human condition.

What draws me most to these worlds is not just their spectacle, but their substance. Star Wars blends mythological storytelling with futuristic settings, exploring timeless themes of good versus evil, redemption, and destiny. Star Trek, by contrast, leans into optimism and exploration, envisioning a future where humanity has grown beyond many of its present limitations. Meanwhile, Marvel and DC bring us modern mythologies grounded in character-driven narratives, where flawed heroes navigate responsibility, power, and identity in ways that resonate deeply with audiences.

In addition to enjoying these stories, I also take great pride in writing about them. For me, writing is a way to engage more deeply with the material—to go beyond surface-level enjoyment and examine what makes these stories endure. Whether it’s breaking down a character arc, analyzing the historical influences behind a storyline, or comparing how different mediums interpret the same idea, I aim to bring thoughtful insight and enthusiasm to every piece I write.

To this end, I maintain my own website, along with my ongoing Substack account, So Many Comics, So Little Time. These platforms serve as creative outlets where I can share my perspectives, connect with fellow fans, and contribute to the broader conversation surrounding these genres. Through my writing, I strive to highlight not only what makes these stories entertaining, but also why they matter—how they reflect our culture, challenge our assumptions, and inspire us to imagine something greater.

Ultimately, this passion for comics and science fiction is more than just a hobby—it’s a lens through which I view storytelling itself. And through my work, I hope to invite others to see these worlds with the same sense of wonder and curiosity that first drew me in.
