Eunice
Mary Kennedy Shriver (July 10,
1921-August 11, 2009) was a member of
the Kennedy family and a co-founer of
the Special Olympics in the 1960s as a
national organization. Born in
Brookline, Massachusetts, she was the
fifth of nine children of Joseph P.
Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Kennedy . She was
married to Sargent Shriver, and the
mother of California First Lady
Maria
Shriver, and the mother-in-law of
Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger.

Moore "Ted" Kennedy (Feb. 22,
1932-August 25, 2009) was a member of
the Kennedy family and a leader in the
Democratic Party for over 40 years as a
powerful Senator and one-time
presidential candidate. Born in
Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy was the
youngest of nine children of Joseph P.
Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Kennedy . He was
married twice, first to Joan Bennett,
and later to Vicki Reggie. Senator
Kennedy fathered three children with
his first wife, Kara, Edward Jr., and
Patrick. Patrick Kennedy is a
congressman from Rhode Island.

Patrick
Joseph Kennedy II (born July 14,
1967) is member of the U.S. House of
Representatives serving the 1st
congressional district of Rhode Island.
Kennedy is the son of late U.S. Senator
Edward M. Kennedy from Massachusetts
and a member of the Kennedy
family political
dynasty.
Kennedy became the youngest member of
the Kennedy family to hold elected
office when, in 1988, he won election
to the Rhode Island House of
Representatives at age 21.
Representative Kennedy is a vocal
supporter of health care reform, and is
a supporter of abortion rights. In
November 2009, Patrick Kennedy was
barred from receiving Holy Communion by
his Bishop, Thomas Tobin. Bishop Tobin
instructed Kennedy to not take
Communion, saying that the diocesan
priests have been told to not give him
Communion. Kennedy said the bishop had
explained the penalty by telling him
“that I am not a good practicing
Catholic because of the positions that
I’ve taken as a public
official,” particularly on
abortion.

Patrick Kennedy II (born September
24, 1952) is a member of the Democratic
Party and former member of the U.S.
House of Representatives and is
currently a businessman. Kennedy served
as a member of to the U.S. House of
Representatives from the 8th
congressional district of Massachusetts
from 1987 to 1999. This was the seat
held by former Speaker of the House,
Thomas "tip" O'Neill and by Kennedy's
uncle, John F. Kennedy. In 1979 Kennedy
founded and ran Citizens Energy
Corporation, a non-profit energy
company 1979 to 1987, when he first won
election to the House. After leaving
the House of Representatives in 1999 he
once again led Citizens Energy
Corporation.
Joseph Kennedy is named after his
late uncle Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., he
is the eldest son of U.S. Senator
Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel
Kennedy and a member of the Kennedy
family political dynasty.
