The President's Cabinet is made up of the appointed leaders, or "Secretaries" of each of the Executive Departments. The President appoints each Secretary to his or her office, and the Senate decides whether or not to confirm, or approve each appointment. The order of the Department Secretaries shown here is also the order of presidential succession. If the President, Vice-President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate are all dead or unable to perform the duties of the Presidency, then the Cabinet Secretaries become the next people in line to become Acting President. Below is the Cabinet of President Ford's Adminstration.
