Football is one of America's favorite team
sports, with the first college football game played on
November 6, 1869, when Rutgers played against Princeton.
The culmination of the modern college (NCAA) football
season is the Bowl games played in late December and
early January.
Below is information on the history of the New Orleans
Bowl, begun in 2001 and held in New Orleans,
Louisiana.
2001 New Orleans Bowl: Colorado State vs. North
Texas.
Played on Dec. 18, 2001, with the Colorado
State Rams defeating the the North Texas Mean
Green, by a score of 45 to 20.
2002 New Orleans Bowl: North Texas vs.
Cincinnati
Played on Dec. 17, 2002, with North Texas
Mean Green defeating the Cincinnati Bear Cats by a
score of 24 to 19.
2003 New Orleans Bowl: Memphis vs. North
Texas
Played on Dec. 16, 2003, with the Memphis
Tigers defeating the North Texas Mean Green s by a
score of 27 to 17.
2004 New Orleans Bowl: Southern Miss vs. North
Texas
Played on Dec. 14, 2004, with the Southern
Miss. Golden Eagles defeating the North Texas Mean
Green by a score of 31 to 10.
2005 New Orleans Bowl: Southern Miss vs. Arkansas
State
Played on Dec. 20, 2005 in Lafayette,

Rice

Memphis
