History of Arizona Cardinals City and Name Changes Over The Years

In this era, sports is well-known as a cut-throat business, where for many owners, the bottom line is all that matters, and every decade sees at least one, and often, more, sports franchises pack up and move from one city to the next. The NFL Cardinals have moved many times, with the most recent move occurring in the mid-1980s, as the Cardinals left their home of 27 years in St. Louis for the deserts of Arizona.

Below is a listing, with years, of the various cities the Cardinals have called home, as well as the different names the football team used ove the years.

Morgan Athletic Club (1898)

Racine Normals (1899-1900)

Racine Cardinals (1901-1906, reformed 1913-1919)

Chicago Cardinals (1920-1943)

Card-Pitt (1944)

Chicago Cardinals (1945-1959)
