Houston Images and Pictures Whitney Houston burst on the
pop music scene in the early 1980s, with a
powerful and melodic voice that earned her
numerous music industry awards, sold over 170
million records, and propelled her into a
successful acting career. In the 1990s, she
married fellow entertainer Bobby Brown, and made
headlines as a drug addict. Whitney Houston died
on February 11, 2012 in Beverly Hills,
California. Whitney Houston climbed to
the top of the pop music world with a string of
hits Billboard No. 1 hits in the 1980s,
including "Saving All My Love for You"
"How Will I Know," "The Greatest Love
of All," "Where Do Broken Hearts Go,"
and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves
Me)." Billboard rates Whitney
Houston's soundtrack to the 1992 movie "The
Bodyguard" as one of the top 10
biggest-selling albums of all time. Houston also
co-starred in the film with Kevin Costner. The
soundtrack included the hit,"I Will Always
Love You," which was originally recorded by
Dolly Parton. Perhaps her greatest moment
on a public stage came with her rendition of the
"Star-Spangled Banner" at the 2001 Super Bowl,
which was held a mere ten days after the
beginning of the Gulf
War with
