John Joseph Travolta (born February 18, 1954)-How a person says they recognize John Travolta can give away how old they were when they first saw him act. Older fans remember Travolta's 1970s work in Welcome Back Kotter, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. Fans a bit younger would say they knew him first from movies like Look Who's Talking, Pulp Fiction, or Michael. Younger fans who first noticed Travolta in the 21st century might know him from the remake of Hairspray, or as a greedy terrorist in The Taking of Pelham 123, or as the voice of the animated dog Bolt.
Travolta gained attention in the 1970s, partially through his ability to sing and dance. In Saturday Night Fever (1977), Travolta performs one of the best known dance routines in movie history, as he competes in a disco contest as character Tony Manero. The next year, John Travolta starred opposite singer Olivia Newton-John in Grease (1978), as Danny Zuco. Travolta sings several songs in Grease, as well as engaging in several dance scenes. Later in his career, Travolta once again busts a move in the highly-acclaimed Pulp Fiction (1994), as gangster Vince Vega. Vega is assigned to keep his boss' wife (Uma Thurman), company, and Travolta is lured to the dance floor for a dance scene.
John Travolta and actress Kelly Preston married in 1991 and had three children. Their oldest son, Jett, passed away in 2009 while the family was on vacation. Travolta was then the target of a blackmail attempt involving pictures of his dead son. The suspects were arrested and stood trial.
In May of 2012, Travolta was the target of lawsuites alleging that Travolta engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior and engaged in assault on several men he allegedly hired for massages. Travolta denied any such activity.

John Travolta played teen hood Danny Zuco, a tough guy with a softer side he only let out (sometimes) when with his beautiful some-time girlfriend, Sandy (Olivia Newton-John). Travolta sang solo on Stranded at the Drive-In, and as part of a group or duet on Greased Lightning, and You're the One That I Want. He also used some pretty good dance moves with Sandy and his old paramour, Cha-Cha.
