The Art of Carmine Infantino

Showcase #4 Infantino

Showcase #4, by Carmine Infantino, introduced the Silver Age Flash

Carmine Infantino, considered to be the best Penciller in comic book history, passed away on April 4, 2013 at the age of 87.

His work for DC Comics included the introduction of the Silver Age Flash in 1956 that began the Silver Age of comics. Then, in 1961, his work on Flash #123 introduced the now-popular concept of the Multiverse to comics, with the meeting of the original, Golden Age Flash and the newer, modern Silver Age Flash.

Infantino is also known for creating the Black Canary, for his work on early Justice League comics, and for co-created Gotham City's Barbara Gordon as a new version of Batgirl in a story titled "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" in Detective Comics #359 (January 1967).
