Adolf Hitler: Dictator of Germany
(1889-1945)
Adolf Hitler- (April 20, 1889-April 30, 1945)
Adolf Hitler is known in history as an evil, warmongering dictator whose leadership of Germany plunged the world into the most deadly and destructive war in history. He is responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of war casualties, and is actually best known as the force behind the Holocaust, the genocide of Europe's Jewish population.
Hitler was born in 1889 in Austria, a german-speaking natin south of Germany. When World War One broke out in 1914, Adolf Hitler joined the German Army and served with distinction on the Western Front. After the war ended, he settled into a life of political activism in the so uthern German state of Bavaria, where he soon took over leadership of the small National Socialist German Workers Party. Under his leadership, the fledgling Fascist party grew and began attracting large numbers of Germans unhappy with the miserable condition Germany found itself in as the losing power from World War One.
Hitler's ambitions were on display for the world to see, as he had written a book, titled Mein Kampf (My Struggle), which laid out his hatred of Jews and his plans for conquest. His actions and political and military fantasies led to the German invasion of Poland, which launched World War Two in Europe.
