The Eternals movie is now in the theaters, and this movie features a ton of new characters for us to get to know.\u00a0 Among the Eternals are three powerful women who each have unique abilities.\u00a0 Before we get into who they are and what they are capable of doing, be sure to check out our mostly positive movie review of the Eternals<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The first of our female Eternals we look at is Sersi, played by Gemma Chan.\u00a0 Sersi first comic book appearance was in The Eternals<\/em> #3 (September 1976).\u00a0 Her powers include transmutation of matter (i.e. she can turn water to rock, rock to ice, etc.).\u00a0 Gemma Chan, prior to Eternals, is probably best known for her role in Crazy Rich Asians.\u00a0 <\/em>In many respects, Sersi is the primary female protagonist in the movie.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Next we have Thena, played by the incomparable Angelina Jolie.\u00a0 Thena is the Eternals version of the Goddess of War, with powerful fighting skills and a somewhat insane aspect that makes her very dangerous.\u00a0 Thena\u2019s first comic book appearance was in The Eternals<\/em> #5 (November 1976)<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ajak of the Eternals<\/span><\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Now we come to Ajak, played superbly by Selma Hayak.\u00a0 Ajak is the healer of the Eternals, and, for at least part of the movie, is the leader of these super powered cosmic beings.\u00a0 The character of Ajak first appeared in comics in Eternals<\/em> #2 (Aug. 1976), but as originally envisioned and created by Jack \u201cKing\u201d Kirby, Ajak was a male Eternal.\u00a0 We think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe did us all a huge favor by making Ajak female, and giving us the beautiful Selma Hayak!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Go see Eternals. But be sure to use the restroom first\u2026it is a two and a half hours of Marvel Cinematic Universe action!<\/span><\/p>\r\n
